Service Description

The goal of our Difficult Conversations about Race course is to give you the skills you need to have conversations about race that are productive and respectful. I believe that these conversations are necessary for creating a more inclusive environment for everyone. In this course, we'll talk about the history of race relations in America from slavery to today; we'll discuss what racism looks like today; and we'll talk about how we can all work together towards a more equitable future. In this course we will: • Establish a racial/ethnic context that is personal, local, and immediate • Isolate race/ethnicity while acknowledging the broader scope of diversity and the variety of factors and conditions that contribute to a racialized problem • Develop an understanding of race/ethnicity as a social/political construction of knowledge; engage multiple racial perspectives to surface critical understanding • Agree on a current definition of race; differentiate between race and ethnicity Course Length: • Series of 1 hour sessions. • 1X Per Week for 5 Weeks
