My Story

Dr. Monica Hayes is a consultant in education, health, and mental health. Dr. Hayes has served in several leadership positions since her arrival in Tallahassee from the Northeast in 2001.

 

She was the first Director of the Office of Equity and Access for
Florida’s DOE; Assistant Director for DOH’s Office of Minority Health; Director of Operations at Bond Community Health Services and she has served on several statewide committees and task forces. Dr. Hayes has also had the pleasure of teaching students at FAMU and at Tallahassee Community College in social work, Spanish, and Intensive English. Recently she taught middle school ESOL students at Shanks Middle
School in Gadsden County. Dr. Hayes currently, is a social worker assigned to Shanks Middle School and Gadsden County High School.


Dr. Hayes has earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Vermont, a master’s in clinical social work from the University of Connecticut, and a doctorate in education from the University of Phoenix. Dr. Hayes is bilingual, bicultural by training in Spanish.


Dr. Hayes is the President of the Capital Area Healthy Start board of directors. She is the Biennium president of the Delta Kappa Gamma International. Alpha Kappa Chapter,
and most recently Dr. Hayes received an invitation to serve on the board of the Spearman Foundation

 

Dr. Hayes has visited Beijing and Liaoning, China; Lagos, Nigeria; Durban South Africa; Mexico City and Puebla, Mexico; the Dominican Republic, and several Caribbean Islands. Sint Maarten is her favorite.


Dr. Hayes has a solid reputation as an accomplished public speaker with a wide array of experiences presenting to  audiences large and small on a range of topics including K-
20 issues in education, closing the achievement gap, Cultural and Linguistic Competency, Difficult Conversations about Race, Sensuality, Sexuality, and YOU! and Aromatherapy. She is a published author of two books Pure Pleasure a collection of
erotic Interludes, and . Tell me how you like it, cause I want to please you.
